The Apostle Paul declared that the believer was free from the law, literally using the word “delivered.” Deliverance denotes that we were enslaved to the demands of the law and someone had to purchase our freedom. That someone was Jesus, and we are no longer held in a dead state to the law.
Romans 7:6 “But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.”
Under grace our obedience toward the Lord lies within the bounds of our knowledge of sonship. This knowledge may begin in the head but we do not obey a regimental doctrine. Instead, we listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit within our hearts, leading us into righteousness, peace and joy.
